Water Ya Waitin For
Miles: 15
Ok don’t look at me I try too hard with the titles. And I got this. Anyways I think the theme of the day was water. We hiked around Watuaga lake and it had a rope swing! I changed into my bathing suit and gave it a few tries to see if it was safe. I left before Scary, Zero, and Green and was a bit sad to move on without them. I waited a bit at the rope swing. It makes sense that they wanted to get the most they can out of the hostel stay though. I also don’t think anyone knew how puddy (pointless up and down) and chuddy today would be. Also as soon as you left the lake there was like no water for 6 miles. And I use this app called “far out” that has water symbols on a gps map and the last one leaving the lake was just like “if your reading this you should have got water a mile ago lol stuff yourself” essentially. I’ve never ran into that before. So I really had to ration water today. The next available water spot was reported as a maybe dry spot and it was 5 miles away. The definite water spot was a mile after that but a long .3 mile hike down a steep decline/incline. Luckily the maybe dry spot was trickling enough for me to get half a liter. Then I rationed for more miles. Modelo and I hiked a bit together at the end. He left earliest from the hostel. I also had a good longer conversation with him using google translate. I don’t think he gets its real discussions with many people here since the language barrier. Anyways he asked why our group never plans any of our days like an itinerary and I told him that we all kinda don’t know what we want until the day of. Also we all have very different opinions (and there’s some headbutting). It’s a hike your own hike situation and we usually just plan what day we will show up to town. It works pretty well all things considered but today I was trying to catch up to the fastest hikers in our group but I guess Modelo and I accidentally passed them somewhere. Towards the end we were sort of outrunning a storm which was exciting. I really hope the rest of the gang is doing well right now whenever they are. Also I really like the trail-name Rock. Ive been using it with people and it feels natural. The reasons why i like it is I like and study geology, I collect and try to identify rocks on the trail, it starts with R, and lastly it’s the main character’s name in the anime Black Lagoon if I remember correctly and it’s a great show and cool character. It’s going to take some time for everyone to get used to it though but I am so relieved I don’t have to use my stupid terrible old trailname I hated so much. I’ve learned I’m too easy going and I need to stand up for myself and not let other people call me something I don’t want. From now on it’s Rock!
P.S - I see DJ Butterfly’s tag on the shelter I’m in. (=_=)
