Post for the 27th
(Here is the post for the 27th I couldn’t upload due to no signal)
Miles: 14.7
The signal is very spotty so this might have to be posted tomorrow. So far we haven’t taken a zero day. I feel it hahahah! To explain a few terms if they aren’t obvious: a Zero Day is when you do zero miles on the trail and spend that time recovering. A Nearo Day is when you do a low mile day on the trail. Nearo days are sometimes a necessity if you plan on staying somewhere like a hostel in a town. Our big plan is to zero in Hot Springs NC. That’s about 2 days after The Smokies. I eat food like nobodies business so tomorrow I am resupplying and eating a meal in Gattlingberg NC. I heard it’s an insane tourist trap with free alcohol. That excited the gang a bit but we’re also kinda locked in too. I might even get a cheap hotel there to refresh halfway through the Smokies and also it’s predicted to be raining the next few days so it might be clutch. Which means maybe low visibility for the dome at 200 miles tomorrow. It will still be cool though. Really glad the weather has been good to this point and I’m very lucky I copped an Osprey rain cover from a hiker box. I also have rain gloves too and foot warmers. Let’s see how my hiking sandals I swear by do with waterproof socks. I also got my parents to ship me my second pair of shoes to Standing Bear hostel which is a must stop location after The Smokies. In the future I’m going to try to ship more things to myself. Fun low mileage day tomorrow!!!
