ROAMING REESE

Detour of Doom

Miles: 13

P.U.D.s - Pointless Up and Downs. A large section of the trail was deemed uncrossable by the forest services so today was literally one massive detour. Most of it was walking on dirt roads, some paved roads, and two extremely steep stair ascents and descents. The stairs were the PUDs. After only 8 miles (the length of the detour) we were all so wiped that we took a 3 hour break. We got a good deal on a rental car to take to Damascus for Trail Days. Zero did her magic again. Also a word that our group started using is gaining a lot of traction amongst the trail community but it might be too offensive to put on here sadly but if you want to know what it is you can ask me about it not on the blog lol. It’s pretty funny especially that it’s catching on with other people. I guess this is another iykyk thing. Anyways we’re getting off the trail Friday for Damascus by The Station at 19E hostel which is where I stayed on my section hike with my neighbor, Steve, last year. I hated some parts and loved others and the thru hikers I met fascinated me. I remember thinking to myself that they have so much freedom with their lifestyle and they are so cool but also work so hard hiking everyday and that I could never do it. Anyways sure it’s hard but I’m eating so much junk food and hanging out so much with friends. I’m going to so many new places and meeting so many new people. I’m finding out how much I value the things and people I had when I lived at home. When I lived at home it was so easy to feel like I was stuck or not going anywhere quickly with my life but here I’m just living it. Anyways I’m hoping to get some sleep if it’s even possible. Goodnight!
