A Friend From Afar

I am writing this from the grand Budapest hotel of hiking spots. 5G connection, a parking lot (I can uber eats but I won’t because I got free pizza and a beer already ((Thanks Brandon’s awesome Girlfriend and sorry I dont remember your name :,( ))… It also has a restroom. Just a toilet with no paper or sink but still better than a privee (a literal shit hole cesspit). Last night at camp one of the camper played a violin or a horse fiddle in the back to himself and I gave him a thumbs up. This morning at 5am he saw a light in my tent and essentially knocked on my door to ask me to hike with him. He only speaks Chinese and he is from Taiwan. My limited education in Mandarin Chinese paid off huge today. The language barrier made for some really funny tidbits where we would describe something wrong. He’s taller than me and very round but a serious hiker. (I picture him as a panda in my mind sorry if that’s racist) Hes thru hiked another trail in the US. He pushed me today to go two mountains beyond my original destination. On the way I almost die hydrated but found a spring dripping water and took like an hour filtering it. I was this close to filtering my own piss and drinking it like Little Monsters. After we got to the end all the faster hikers were there with BEER AND PIZZA!!! Wahoooo!!! So yeah freakin epic day. Tomorrow I do the same amount of miles through BLOOD MOUNTAIN WHERE ITS TOO DANGEROUS TO CAMP without a bear canister (a thing nobody carries everyone throws bags into a tree). Sooo I need to make it to Neels gap where they have a hiker heaven type store where I resupply and beyond that it’s safe to camp. So really early start tomorrow for BLOOD MOUNTAIN 👹. I have this beautiful camp spot to myself tonight and the view is better than a than than a. Ah. Hm. Singing off. I mean signing off. No sing offs. No! Hopefully the screeched owls or whatever the fuck don’t ear ape me tonight. Ok bye bye!
